Heilman On The Trading Block; Sosa Waived

Adam Rubin is reporting in today’s Daily News that the Mets are shopping Aaron Heilman and are looking for a set-up man.

Good luck with that.

For far too long, the Mets have forced Heilman to come out of the pen when it has been his desire to start.

The perfect time to move Heilman was following the 2006 season when Heilman had a very nice late season run.  He gave up that game that home run in game 7 of the NLCS to Yadier Molina and its been all downhill from there for Heilman.

Rather than selling high at that point and sending Heilman to a team that would allow him to start, the Mets will now have to sell low.  Makes no sense.

Also, Jorge Sosa has been placed on waivers after the Mets tried to trade him following DFA-ing him on 5/13.
