Eh.

I’ll take the win but the Mets didn’t exactly look good last night. The Nationals lost the game more than the Mets won the game for themselves.

Yes, the Mets showed some hustle:

Angel Pagan was 1-for-4 with a RBI, a run, and 2 stolen bases (he stole second & third in the same inning).

Luis Castillo showed more life batting 2nd, going 2-for-5 with a RBI, a run, and a stolen base

Carlos Beltran was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored

Ryan Church, batting 5th, went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored against his old club

But it felt like the Mets couldn’t get the ball out of the infield most of the night and benefited from the Nationals mistakes more than anything.

You have to play who the schedule maker tells you to.  But, right now the Mets are taking advantage of this horrible Nationals team, winning 4 games from them in the past week. After Monday & Tuesday’s showing in Chicago, the Mets need to prove themselves at home this weekend against Atlanta. Johan Santana only pitches every fifth day.

  1. Yeah, I watched the game at the Pig with Coop and we were happy with the win, but it wasn’t the prettiest one. I’ll be (temporarily?) satisfied if we show well v the Braves…Come on, Metsies, win it for us on Foam Finger day!

  2. Lousy competition hides all sorts of flaws. Not saying we won’t take the win, but the game’s top pitcher versus one of the game’s weakest teams ought to be close to a gimme.
