Oh My. More Omar.

Adam Rubin of the Daily News is reporting that Omar Minaya, who is under contract through 2009, will be with the Mets long term thanks to the Mets 2nd half success.

With Mets brass focusing on a playoff push, any extension will wait, if it materializes at all in the next few months. A source familiar with the relationship between chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon and Minaya said that even if the GM was working without a contract, which wouldn’t be the case until after the 2009 season, he’d be secure.

I guess the Wilpons value having a bullpen capable of daily implosions for 2 years in a row.

Also, Ryan Church has been tabbed by Jerry Manuel as the everyday RF.  This means that Fernando Tatis, Daniel Murphy, and Nick Evans will split time in LF.  Murphy will start against RHP and Evans facing hard throwing LHP and Tatis facing crafty LHP.
